Dr.
Chathapuram Ramanathan has a consulting company, Human Service Enterprises.
In 1987, he received his Ph.D. in Clinical Social Work and Human
Resource Management, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Dr.
Ramanathan has worked in the human service area for over two decades.
His practice and scholarship focus is on cross-cultural issues.
Dr. Ramanathan has written 20 refereed articles, authored several
book chapters, and co-authored a book. He serves as a consultant
to key corporate higher echelon management.
Dr.
Ramanathan served on the faculty of University of Illinois, Southern
Illinois University, Michigan State University (MSU),and Wayne State
University. While on the faculty at MSU School of Social Work, he
was on the Core Faculty of Center for Advanced Study of International
Development, and Asian Study Center. In 1991 and 1992, Dr. Ramanathan
served as Vice President, Michigan State University United States-India
Scholarship and Program Exchange. In 1992, Dr. Ramanathan was instrumental
in the offering of courses on behalf of Michigan State University,
in Chennai India (He served as the Co-Director). For two years,
he served on the Governor's task force Committee in Michigan, pertaining
multicultural education and training.
Dr. Ramanathan has been serving the Council on Social Work Education's
(CSWE) International Commission since 1992. He has been serving
CSWE as a trained site visitor for over a decade, reviewing graduate
and undergraduate social work programs for accreditation. He has
served on several agency boards of directors. He serves on the editorial
boards of two major journals. Dr. Ramanathan has presented over
50 papers and workshops in the U.S., Canada, Portugal, Netherlands,
the U.K., Turkey, India, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and South
Africa. Dr. Ramanathan has trained participants in Diversity Issues
through many organizations, both in North America and Asia. Dr.
Ramanathan has received many awards and honors.
